There is a consensus that while the infrastructure is successfully being constructed,
the dire need is for a qualified workforce.
Since local and non local corporations are going to be drawn to our State and
to the Internet Coast, in many ways by the NAPs, Florida will have to ensure that
there is a competent and available body of local workers, or the talent will have
to be imported from elsewhere.
Because community colleges are better positioned to generate targeted workforce
training, Miami-Dade is being asked to be the key source of 21st Century education
and training to create that workforce.
In cooperation with the Beacon Council, preliminary
analysis of the economic impact of 10,000 new high tech jobs on the InternetCoast
would be:
10,000 jobs x $40,000 (average salary)= $400,000,000
Conservative Multiplier Effect of 3 x = $1.2 Billion added to Regional G.D.P.
