FPL
FPL and The School of Design Technology worked together to implement a specialized training program to fit the needs of FPL. The program is designed to provide in-house training of FPL employees in the areas of Nuclear as well as Fossil Plant Maintenance and Operations for journeymen and technicians. Furthermore, this program can be taken as a track in the Associate in Science (AS) curriculum for Electronics Engineering Technology (EET). This will help provide FPL a homegrown pool of applicants to fill their needs. Completers of the program receive the title of "Advanced Industrial Maintenance and Operations Specialist." The program is also designed to easily bridge to an AS in EET. FPL and Design Technology jointly advertise and recruit for this program. FPL regularly provides the School with its recent job openings, and in return the School matches recent graduates with the proper skills to meet the open job requirements and refers these students to FPL's recruitment office. SEFEEC The SouthEast Florida Engineering Education Consortium (SEFEEC) is a collaborative effort of Florida Atlantic University, Florida International University, Broward Community College (BCC), Indian River Community College (IRCC), Miami-Dade Community College (MDCC), and Palm Beach Community College (PBCC), to identify appropriate courses that will count toward an AA degree and then transfer to an engineering program at either FAU or FIU. The Consortium also works to enhance the quality of engineering curricula and instruction, and to strengthen the links between Community Colleges and Universities. Articulation Agreements M-DCC's ETCOTA has a total of 65 Articulation Ageements with leading universities to give its students the opportunity to transfer to a major university, taking advantage of the crdits they earned at their bachelor's degrees.
